said Mrs. J.Dirt this morning :hair: when she came out to help with some stacking and realized how much wood there really is.

We burn roughly 3 cord a year give or take and have roughly 14 1/2- 15 cord css that is almost all ready to burn. The reason for her comment was this weekends project. I decided to take care of bucking two piles of smaller stuff I picked up back in January or February. It’s been piled on some timbers D1E0CCD8-CE3D-4477-8465-AC6D4D52F4F7.jpeg 356CCB1E-3A4D-4195-A675-024C35920F14.jpeg just waiting for cutting when I felt like it and we’ll yesterday and today I felt like it.:saw::stack::stacker:.

Of course it really bugs me to have uncut wood laying around so I had to finish it up:cool:
The front row is 26’ Long at the base and runs roughly 5’6” high 42010C3B-2471-45C1-9065-3B4E115B299B.jpeg
Back row is the same height. Today’s wood is the rounds that start onto the black walnut splits so maybe 12’ Long if you squared it off. 1982FA96-4BA4-4507-A32F-420AF5FD7E62.jpeg
Today’s carnage! I Looked like a 225 pound kid treasure hunting in the saw chips for uglies:rofl:  B83EEA94-09C5-46BD-97A4-D4A218322725.jpeg
Ugly pile from today, about 3 good wheelbarrow loads 0AE6489C-E1F2-4B32-8BA2-02FD12F7F6B3.jpeg
    All neatened up:smoke:figure 2 1/2+ cord ? 8986FC6D-01F7-4C6A-9023-445EC1D523C3.jpeg
    Now where’d I park that splitter?

Nice looking stacks Joe!! Not sure I have ever seen so many unsplit rounds all in one stack before. :)

And by the way my wife tells me "You've lost it" many times when it comes to firewood and a few other things as well...:)

    Thanks folks!
I usually take them off the truck and put them in stacks like that it keeps stuff in Check as well as makes splitting easy. A lot of these stacks won’t need the splitter because they are so small.

Been told I've lost it before too, my reply is simply, " the only thing I've lost is a gas bill, split, stack or leave, it's your choice ". They usually leave LOL, too much work for most.

You’ve got a point there! I never expect anything more than full stacks and piles of chips so guess I’m doing alright

Or 102 loads when your 3year old helper thinks it’s fun to load and dump it in the same place :picard:

Converting a chaotic tree into a neat and organized pile like that, and then heating your house with it, nothing beats it!

I have not heard... "You..have lost it!" in wow, been a while. More like..."Hmm..You know how he is!'' That's when I know we have company. I can usually tell who they are by their giggles. AC had it right I would hate to know what my fuel oil bill would be if I let that happen. I would imagine that I save between $6-10k. I am going to have to start keeping track I would guess over 15 cords of white spruce. While I have not weighed it the claim is 2240 pounds per dry cord. If that's the case some good ole black Locust weight wise would be 5-6 cord for the same weight. All relative I guess.

    Good job @ J. Dirt
