Very nice!! Looks like a well built machine. Report back and let us know how you like it
And some tree removal. Are they planning on taking that down now?
Sass, makes great kindling!!
I have no idea but that thing is bad a$$. How long is the blade? Looks like it could tear through some wood.
Great idea for the chunkies. It's always a pain to find somewhere to put them.
Those logs should make some real nice boards. That tractor sure makes things easier:thumbs:
Kind of what I was thinking
Please tell us the story behind this!!!
Have done similar trips on different occasions, very cool country.
I'll second Swamp White Oak. One of my favorite trees
I am going with a little over 2 cord. Are they hand climbing or using a bucket truck? I guess $1350.
Stuff can happen that fast, even with you fully focused and paying attention. Glad it wasn't worse. Heal up quickly!!
My guess is a little under a cord all said and done
Yup, that's Hophornbeam for sure. Ostrya Virginiana. I saved a piece from the chipper a few weeks ago. Have a bunch of saplings scattered around...
First thought seeing the end grain was Oak, but bark seemed a little thin. Beech it is. It looks ready to burn!!!
Closest guess I can think of is hickory, as others have said. I have never seen that coloring in the heart wood though. Very cool find!!
We had a storm back in late October, rain and high winds. This storm was bad for oak trees or anything that still had leaves on it. Most trees...
First pic I was convinced it was oak, but after looking at the splits I am going with cherry. I have come across dead cherry that looked a lot...
Split looks like it could be Mulberry as brad said, Also looks like a cherry split. The bark is interesting though.
WOW!! What a difference. Your stone mason does some very nice work.
