the bark stuff is definitely mulberry. the mystery wood looks just like cottonwood. but there is no way you split thru the center of a cottonwood...
if you need to cut a dirty log you can cut from the dirty side and cut down and the dirt will fling off the wood without dulling your chain.
if your lifting anything make it a tire to set around the round so the splits don't fall over.
I'm leaning towards sugar maple.
