This blew over in the road about a 1/2 mile from home, nice little Red Oak if I get it all probably 1 1/2 to 2 cord in this tree.
Probably 70% of what I cut/burn each year is Red or Black Oak.And 100% of that is dead or almost. Still I never get tired of seeing it.Sure splits easier (most of the time depending on the grain, knots etc) compared to most other woods I burn.
Thanks Savage good to see you standing up and stretching that back, you been sitting on that bucket for YEARS.
Found a good spot just had to do a little clean up this stuff will set right here for at least 3 yrs an Oak that is downed with leaves takes some time. And I was taught without pictures it did not happen , would hate to wake up some morning with a sore back and it was a Dream. I can now bring home a load a day and have a place to stack , for me it saves Work. I have about 1/2 cord so far from this tree.
Good spot you have. Up off the ground and plenty of sun. I think your smart getting it high off the ground there too. I'm starting to stack higher off the ground as after a few years from the wieght and rain etc... my stacks end up a few inches lower than I want them.
