42 degrees this morning and feeling like the same tonight. Hooked up the 30 and loaded her with 4 splits of hickory and locust. We're off and running. Feels good.
Hickory and locust are goona give you lots of heat for tonight, MWN. Enjoy it. I took four chunks and lit em up this morning as it was 63° in the house. Tonight it's 73, so no heat needed yet. End of the week is a different story. Supposed to be cold.
Well, here it comes. Rain and snow tonight in the forecast though Friday. Lows below freezing all week, and daytime highs of mid-40's.
Nice myway. Nice. Enjoy. Glad to see the cool weather is coming finally too men. Almosttime! Definitely time to move this years stash in under the porch! That starts this week. Hopefully done in 3 or 4 days.
Been burning off and in for a few weeks. Have a very drafty 2400 sq ft house that gets cold very easy, new windows going in soon so that will help.
Yep , looks like it's gonna get chilly around here, if we get dumped on , I can't pick up the leaves, Darn it
The pile is ash, hickory, locust, cherry, beech, and mostly red oak. Only hitting the locust/hickory due to the length of wood available at my fingertips. Saw will come out to play soon and correct that.
We've been burning off and on for several weeks as well, mainly overnight loads. I'll get a couple of fresh red maple splits going on the coals around 9:30pm or so, then right before bed I'll throw a couple pieces of beech and a chunk of locust on......wake.up in the morning to a house in the mid 70's. A couple splits of red maple before I head to work and the house is usually good for the day...
You're getting a bit more of the Great Lakes effect over yonder. Our house is a brick oven, I mean brick cape and has little shade. She heats up all day and holds for hours after sunset. Great in the winter, not so much in July.
Small house here, and I had the house close to 70 before bed last night. Temp was 30 when I got up, and the main house was 61. Too chilly, so I may have to do some Maple or Oak this week for the overnighter. When I first started, all we had was Oak and I didn't know any better so that's what I burned. Load of Pine in the stove right now.
We've been burning for about a week. Just a small fire at night and when we wake up. Using up some boxelder and popular. Short burns since it's only in mid 30's at night so far. Every night my wife knows I'm just waiting for her to mention that it's getting kind of cool. Then I go running to the stove and light her up. I feel like a kid, waiting for a reason to show off my favorite toy!
I loaded the porch full of chunks, punks, and uglies on Friday night. It worked out well for me the kids were at Grandma's house and I built a big fire in the T6. Just kept throwing wood on until the wife started shedding clothes........ I learned that from Dennis and he is definitely on to something there!
I've had a fire every night since last week. My house doesn't cool down much as long as it stays above 45 or so outside. Tonight I'm burning some spruce that I took down a couple years ago. Doesn't last long but it's all I need to take the chill off the house. Just hope that spruce doesn't plug my chimney up and burn the house down.
Fire going here. Wife says she'll run her electric heater if I don't keep it going. 76 in here now, Too warm for me. Stove running on low.
Been burning off & on for a bit. But its just getting the coolness out. In fact Im almost sweating now, but she wanted a fire. So I did a little fire tonight for her.
