We decided to take Maple to Dog mountain today. Due to Saucy's petite stature, he stayed home for safety precautions. Dog Mountain, Home of Stephen Huneck Gallery Dog Mountain is set on 150 acres on a private mountaintop spot in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. The grounds are always open to people and their dogs. Stephen Huneck and his wife, Gwen, bought the property in 1995. They turned the barn into studio space. After Stephen’s unique visionary experience, the Dog Chapel soon followed. The Dog Chapel opened its doors Memorial Day weekend of 2000. The unspoiled haven is covered with hiking trails and dog ponds. Wildflowers abound in the summer and snow-shoeing is a favorite activity in the winter. Year after year, the Dog Chapel and the Stephen Huneck Gallery get more and more visitors from all over the world. In 2015, the non-profit organization Friends of Dog Mountain (FODM), was established by family and friends of Stephen and Gwen Huneck. As of late 2017, FODM became the owner and manager of Dog Mountain. Leashes are optional on Dog Mountain. Dogs are not just welcome here, they are cherished! Dogs are free to run, play, swim and best of all meet other dogs! It's great to hear from tourists and local residents alike how much Dog Mountain means to them and their dogs. Some pictures of our time there. The art gallery..... View attachment 218531
The next set of pictures is the dog chapel. A place where loving dog owners leave pictures and notes of and about their furry friends that left this world. It can be a very emotional and healing place.
And some hiking then swimming! Maple had an absolute blast! DaveGunter we need to get the dogs together here!
Yes, the Chessie is Maple. She's been through alot over the past year with knee surgery, but doing well & loving life!
Beautiful pups... I know the surgery thing, My pooch had both ACL's fixed and one Meniscus tear operated on. I think they may name a room in our honor at the Ohio State Vet Hospital.
We expect the same when she's older. Keeping her on a daily regiment of glucosamine, keeping fingers crossed. How old is she?
We are doing the 3 Glucosamine pills a day too, Probably started too late. She will be 11 in January, but she is still a puppy at heart.
