Everybody, Get In Line!! AKA the Talking Heads:

Kinda reminds me of standing on line to get your head chopped off. Not a good day to be a Red Oak round! ;)
Got a good sized Red Oak tree today. Got 9.75 Cord Split and Stacked. Not another inch left for storage, I am officially DONE till next year.

Sorry you are done till next year.
But if you don't have room to store any more ,
maybe you can find a way to sell some so you can
still have some fun cutting wood :)

Ah, being done for now is OK. Sit back and watch it dry. That's what I'm doing.

Pete, are you saying that is "Box Elder"? I thought it was regular old Red Oak, I was 99% sure, BUT the other 1% usually prevails! ;) You know, now that I am thinking about it, it was a bit lighter in color that I'm used to... I know Red Oak very well, but I wasn't really paying close attention till now. Hmmmmm I have to go have a close look when I get in tonight. I was paying more attention to trying to cut and split with the least amount of work, aka work smart which normally do NOT do!

Gotta say, with some practice now, I'm getting pretty good at this. I bucked it, rolled it out of woods, qtr'd them right there and loaded the truck, and then unloaded the qtrs. right to the splitter in my yard and stacked the splits right from the splitter. In the old days I would have moved this stuff 6 times before it ended up even near the stack.... I think I had this done in 1/4 the time it used to take me to process this much wood.

You know, that is NOT a bad idea! Hadn't thought about that before. hmmmmm.... I have a serious problem, no kidding. I just can't drive past a downed tree.... I can't stop looking at it and thinking how I could cut it up. I think it's taking over my life!! :headbang:

    Another option
    Buy more land so
you can store 100s of cords of wood, like Scotty "O"

    LOL :)

I'm the same way, well if it's birch I get real interested,
If it's a good spruce with few limbs, I watch it for a while.
The other wood types here I don't loose sleep over. :)

I dont think that's box elder. There is no red "transmission fluid" ring. Or at least that's what mine always looks like.

Here is a pic of my box elder. Its not a great picture, but it should help describe what I'm talking about.

Yea thanks. Pete confirmed, he was just joking about a "blood stain" from chopping heads off.... ;)

LOL! I've never seen Box Elder so I had no idea what he was talking about.... missed the joke...
