No reason to be embarrassed. The bark looks a little different than what I typically see, but the overall look of the tree looks right for black walnut. I'm trying to zoom in on the branch tips. Walnut has kind of thick tipped branch tips with the buds kind of clustered together.

No reason to be embarrassed I still don't know what trees are what sometimes. I am gonna go out on a limb and say it lools more like a rock or chestnut oak to me. I think the rock and chestnut oak is the same tree just different names. Well that's my 2 cents.
I am sure someone will be along in no time that will know exactly what it is.

It almost looks like basswood. See my post "Stumped" on ID? from a few weeks back. It was determined to be that. I dont think its Chestnut oak as the bark would be deeply furrowed like that of black locust.
Unless you're a professional arborist, dont be embarrased Woodsnwoods. I hate to ask myself, but enjoy all the input from fellow members.
