See 2 dealers have sales now. SURPRISINGLY EXPENSIVE in my opinion. Most premium brands at 300-310 a ton. One March sale has a Hammers at 290. Last year I paid 240-250 for hammers. I dont see my self buying anything that approaches 300.
My dealers early buy ended two weeks ago... I'm always broke when they have these deals. But now I mostly buy from my local lumber yard... good prices and good pellets and one mile away vs. 20.
for what its worth, the pellet suppliers arent offering any great deals this year....all out of product, so they see no reason to lower pricing....go figure. FULL DISCLOSURE: I sell pellets
Not really looking for great deals, but a fair price. I cannot say anything over 300 in April is a fair price. Will translate to 330-350 by November. I'll just go to box stores at this rate. .
Very possible. I've used box stores as a supplement. But I might just go all box if economics dictate.
Not bad at all don't like the Hamer's at $280 , that makes me think they won't be in my stash next year
No deals... If anything, the shipping is going up, so I don't expect to see any "real" deals. Most of the stuff we have comes from as far away as it can be, so it does hit us bad... And two brands may be unavailable.. Not holding that against you. Dan
well, some of the higher end pellets go for well above $300 at any time of year, so you'll likely not see "fair" prices of those pellets at all. Some people love the higher end pellets, while some feel their price doesn't justify the quality. I don't argue, we just let them decide what their wallets can afford.
I received that as well. I'm guessing after a so so pellet quality season Vermont is offering a good price to it's dealers. I'm thinking hard about going Vermont or LaCrete.
just to echo what Dan and LW said - there are not any great spring prices coming from the mills. A few dollars less than winter pricing, but not a lot. Add to that they mostly want them paid for like NOW. Leaves us cash poor till September. no special discounts on Vermonts either. FULL DISCLOSURE: I sell pellets
Ya'll are straight shooters , and don't blow smoke up our azz , it's gonna be what it's gonna be . Costs always go up .
