Grandkids I hope.. Are like nieces and nephews.. The more the better!! Spoil them.. Sugar them up and send them home!! Great revenge on siblings
That's and probably a stream under that snow.. Never happened to me.. Of course it would not be digging it out!!
Just another example of why machines should stay on the trails. There are some machines built for that type of snow, however, most of them are designed for groomed trails only! Man, is that thing ever buried!
I have never seen that happen on a snowmobile but it happened to a friend while we were skiing at Squaw Valley. We both we off trail and trying to keep our speed up in the deep snow. He got too close to a big tree and sorta disappeared briefly. The trees act like heat sinks and will create bowls around them in deep snow... And when fresh snow comes down it can blow the depression flat again but the fresh snow is loosely packed and you sink! Cool video!
I think there was a person trapped in a tree well just as you described. Took awhile to find him as he couldn't get out on his own! LUCKY!
Moved the snowmobile today ... Drove off the crippled trailer and did some hot laps in the yard... Parked under the empty wood shelter.
I always say that my birthday is usually the last of the year. You may get more, you may be done already.
The amount of rain on Wed is guessed at .3 and Thu is pretty much insignificant. At any rate, the days look to be in the 30's and nights below 30's (sap season) so maybe just maybe the trails will hold on for awhile longer......
Put 180 miles on the sled Friday afternoon with my dad. We went from Alpena to Mackinaw city and back on the old railroad grade which is now a snowmobile trail. A little backstory, I was in Alpena for my grandpa’s funeral, who before he retired happened to be a train engineer and made this same run weekly...but on a train. I’m glad we found time to do this, it was very sentimental and therapeutic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Glad you had that opportunity and the memories/observance of your Grandfather. I bet your Dad had even stronger memories to himself!
I didn’t plan it that way but it’s very possible my dad did and didn’t mention it to me before hand. We stopped in mackinaw city for lunch and that’s when he told me the story. My dad was also an engineer for the same railroad, once he mentioned it it brought back a lot of great memories of train rides I took with both of them on this very trail as a child. Rode both machines the past two weekends. It was awesome to get out there. Last weekend, I took the Jag 440 out and did the entire loop on our club trail with my buddy. He's 80! Outstanding rider. I also took my Puma 340 2-up out for a quick blast afterwards. This weekend, my wife and I took the Puma out and went about half way through the loop, then came back. It was warmer, sunny and just about perfect. Saw turkeys and deer while out on the trail. Hoping we can get out next weekend. About 4-5" of snow fell in VT today before we left. Fingers crossed!
A few pics from today’s ride, left the house and rode to the mountains. Not sure there is enough snow to leave from the house anymore, will most likely have to trailer a little bit.
