Hello I am new here, and love the site! I have come across an abundance of this type of firewood already cut and stacked waiting for a truck bed but I am unsure what kind it is. I live in NJ if that helps any. Thanks alot!
Your welcome. It’s going to stink when you split it and especially if the bark starts to rot, but don’t be discouraged, but the wood it’s self will never rot and it burns very hot for a long time, it’s basically like burning coal. I would not attempt to burn it until it’s been split and stacked for a couple of years.
A friend of mine who owns a Tree Service calls it "The Primo of Firewood". He always did have a way with words!
Welcome to the forum Steve Dixon. That is primo firewood. Get all you can get! Here is some reading material you may find interesting: Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage
Welcome to FHC Steve Dixon Starting your first thread here, with pics, of the great Black Locust....... priceless
One word of advice Steve, Try and keep Black Locust scores as quiet as possible. It's a guarded secret that BL is plentiful here in New Jersey and the last thing we want is all the wood hoarders on this site moving to NJ. We are crowded enough Lol.
No offense to the great state of NJ, but there's no chance of me doin' that....BL or no BL. We gots Oak......gooder enough. Welcome aboard Steve Dixon .
Haha I think the NJ taxes keep people away lol last year was my first year with a woodstove in my new-to-me home so Im looking to get as much free and build up a supply for years to come!
