Before I change the door gasket out on our new AS...has anyone broke down their AS to get to the door hinge welds? I need to cut off my hinges and weld them back on square and straight before putting on the new gasket. We still have six more months of burn season, so I'm wondering how long it takes to break the guts down. The surgery will be about an hour and a half or so. I'd like to be able to get the stove back up and running in 6 hours or less. I have talked to woodstock already, and if pulling the guts out takes too long...I might have to drag the princess in for the rest of winter. Any insight would be appreciated folks.
Ugh. Why do you need a new gasket? Seems like a design flaw if you have to cut hinges and reweld just to replace a gasket... got any pics or more details?
Hey JBNY , welcome to the forums!!! Hopefully you have stacks and stacks of well seasoned wood to feed your AS!!!
Woodstock did help. They sent a gasket instantly. The door doesn't fit all that well. Door isn't even spaced from the top too the bottom. This is hard on the door seal. The stove has been running since september, so too new to have to be replacing gaskets already. I build houses, and install many doors, but it is hard for my antiquated, forgotten schooling to explain in the time I have now. I am going to get a new digital camera. I don't see what else they could do Dennis. Montana is a long way from the northeast. It is going to take some welding either way. I still like woodstock and my stove.
Thanks guys. I know the stove is new, just thought if anyone tore one down yet they would be here. I'll get it fixed. We had a family emergency two days ago. Sorry I didn't respond right away
