Ahhhhhh, after years of debating on purchasing one of these, I finally pulled the trigger. Picked up a large room to whole house humidifier. Only been plugged in for an hour and it's raised the humidity 3%. Is real cold out and the wood stove has been cranking, so the humidity is low 20s. I'll review this aircare humidifier in a couple days.
Big blow out cold air but they do a pretty good job Rising the humidity , Mine is 2 and a half gallon Haven't fired it up this year, Just water on the stove , When it gets to single digits I will have to Fill it up and turn it on . I put this stuff in it , last time I got 64oz from Amazon https://www.walmart.com/ip/BestAir-...gvQ5toBVbVOfQ2G1zGlhiPNDuVNyEDNMaAnrGEALw_wcB
So I ran the one I posted on the first page of this thread all winter last year and have been using it this year now as well. It has done a great job and still on the original wick. Add a half a cap of bacteriostatic every other fill.
Review on the aircare humidifier after almost a week. Simple to fill, filling the 1.25 gal jug, this fills the base, then fill the 1.25 gal jug again, which is what I go through every 12 hours or so. The entire tank will easily last 24 hours, but this depends on the fan speed. The unit has quite a few fan speeds, but i keep it on auto. If the humidity goes down enough, the fan speed goes up and vice versa. There is an online humidistat about 4" away from the unit on the 6ft power cord, but it seems the readings are naturally high. The unit does a nice job bringing up the humidity in the house. When the stove is really cranking, humidity naturally goes down, thus the fan speed really increases for a bit, but it's kinda loud- similar to a large window AC unit fan sound. We've already noticed less dry skin, same for the dogs, less dry nose and throat, and a warmer comfy feel to the house. Not enough time to see how the wick performs, depends on environment, water quality, etc. I'm planning on buying a second one to swap out when needed, while soaking the original one in a solution, maybe vinegar & water & let dry. I'll keep reviewing as time passes.
I think they are worth the investment . I run mine on medium , Hi is just too noisy for me. I tried cleaning a filter And it went limp on me , Maybe I didn't do it right , a lot of lime in my water
I snatched up 2 pack of filters from Amazon for $11 , Now I can't find them they want 14,99 for one I don't pay much attention to The reading on the unit, according to my other sensors That Reading is about 8% high
Have the same one and it works great! Bought it used for a great price! I add the antibacterial additive to every tank and it has worked very well!
I did buy a 2 pack for $11 , I'm using one right now, If I had known the price was going to go up to 15 bucks for one I would have bought More of them right then
Found these That fit in mine , With the Reinforced aluminum , Might be able to clean them and reuse them , I don't know how much it means really but they have 5 stars on them
Helps Prevent bacterial formation, And helps to cut down on Lime and iron accumulation on the wicks. You don't want bacteria forming in the wick And blowing out in the air
We have an Air Care also...it has a 3 speed fan w/ auto setting. Humidity adjust from 25-65% humidity....2 tanks (about 2 gallons each)....Air Care has a solution you can add to water in ur tank to prevent mold, bacteria, etc. We use a capful to 1 tank when refilling(we dont put it in every fill) They say the colder it gets....you want to lower your humidity setting...if not your windows n home will possibly sweat (mainly windows) we keep the house (depending on outside temps) 35- 45% hum. We'll use 3-4 gal. in a 24 hr period...depending.
Heres the solution for bacteria n such like HDRock. was sayin also....Amazon is a good place to get filters n solution...especially if you have prime (free shipping)....
