I'd sure like to have a sample of honey locust sometime. I've had one sample of black locust which burned good but stunk. I am told honey locust is not like that.

It does look mulberry-ish. If it seasons to a nice deep reddish color then that is for sure what you have. Otherwise I'd say black locust. Usually when fresh split though mulberry is more visually striking than black locust.

yeah, I'm thinking you may be right Eric. It does look like Mulberry. A better bark pic would verify

Nice catch! Every little bit helps! Just stacked some black locust today myself.

:BrianK:I'm going with black locust because of the little bit of bark that I can see, especially on the round in the foreground.

Bark does look thick, and the split wood has a olive hue to it is why I thought Black Locust. That bottom unsplit round does have a greenish bark hue, which I see on every Mulberry I’ve ever ran across. We need more pics! Hahaha

Backwoods Savage We’ve had the pleasure this past fall of several Honey Locust trees, it was our first experience with it. Nick absolutely loved it! He swears by using it for cooking and smoking. It kinda smelled like bbq! Just gotta watch out for those thorns! Lol ~~Lissa :grizz:

Here’s some pics of the Honey Locust. Part of the center was hollowed out and it was filled with the best black dirt I’ve ecer seen and a bunch of Huge Grubs! Double score, we went fishing!! ~Lissa :seasoned::seasoned::banana::banana:
