Picked up some roadside wood, black cherry and honey locust . Gorgeous wood, pleasure to split n look at . .. here's a sample..
I'd sure like to have a sample of honey locust sometime. I've had one sample of black locust which burned good but stunk. I am told honey locust is not like that.
It does look mulberry-ish. If it seasons to a nice deep reddish color then that is for sure what you have. Otherwise I'd say black locust. Usually when fresh split though mulberry is more visually striking than black locust.
Hey Oakman69, show us an I split round, bark pic specifically, of that alleged Black Locust with end grain visible...
Nice catch! Every little bit helps! Just stacked some black locust today myself. I'm going with black locust because of the little bit of bark that I can see, especially on the round in the foreground.
Bark does look thick, and the split wood has a olive hue to it is why I thought Black Locust. That bottom unsplit round does have a greenish bark hue, which I see on every Mulberry I’ve ever ran across. We need more pics! Hahaha

Here’s some pics of the Honey Locust. Part of the center was hollowed out and it was filled with the best black dirt I’ve ecer seen and a bunch of Huge Grubs! Double score, we went fishing!! ~Lissa
Well I like that! Firewood and fish bait all in one score! Great panfish bait. Did you catch any fish and, if so,what kind
