It's starting to look like I will be done processing firewood by the end of May. Done, as in no more room if I want to be able to keep a garden. I didn't think this would ever happen, but I am thinking I have less than two cord to go. All I did last year was process process process and now I will be done before the kids get out of school? No, I will save some for them to stack!
Yeah, it's a testament to better skill, better equipment (the truck is a great help) and just replacing what was used vs. trying to set up a 3 year plan (which I do t have room for). Also, we were still fighting snow well into May last year, which made for a short season.
There ya go Grizz… stacking never has to end. Just keep re-stacking next to the last one. All that moving around has to help drying too…
Theres always something else to do, the wood will always be there but..... do something else you enjoy.
Could that be the answer to your question? In my case the garden takes far more time than wood processing - my goal is to not have to worry about firewood from May to October when the garden is going full tilt. I managed to get 3+ years ahead by 2011 and it's been smooth sailing ever since that first winter when I did~10 cords. In any case, I'm sure those kids'll keep you busy!
Way to go Pictures ? Summer not the best time t process wood anyway. Lots of other stuff going on + it's usually to hot
I will put up more pics as I get wood split. And kids, fishing, gardening, and remodeling will take up my time. It's just going to feel weird not cutting wood.
You could perhaps help someone else that is trying to attain the same goal but is farther behind in their endeavors. If we only knew someone like that.......
Only because sometimes I'm the other person? Actually, I was just thinking about your old lady's well being.
