Well, I got at it again today.
Had to meet my brother at my sis-in-law's to finish some plumbing, and while there, I got into the woods.
There's a lot more down stuff than there was last year.
Decided to go after some dead Oak.

Tree went right where I aimed....nice. I'm getting a little better at this, but it's easier when I don't need to worry about buildings.

All bucked up, and ready to load.

Not a full load, but my back was starting to feel it, so I stopped. More than I had yesterday, so I'm happy.

Went a little deep on the notch, but it worked well anyway.

Found this larger Oak a little farther in, and discovered it's in bad shape. I plan to take it down after taking a good long look at it first.

Always a good day when your in the woods, and even better when you have your saw with you. Dave, take your time and take it easy on your back, you'll get it done when you get it done.

Yep, but I want to get as much as I can before the ticks start coming out.
    So far, so gooder.
    It was definitely fun.

My 7 yr old had a tick on his ear today too. My wife picked up the flea and tick repellant today, happy for that.

Darn, Loon. I haven't seen any yet, and was hoping for a few more days....My dog hates the vinegar, but it seems to work. We've been using it for about a week now.

Not to completely hijack this thread, but what about vinegar? That sounds like something I should know.

I started spraying white vinegar all over the dog, and on my socks and lower legs, each time we went in the woods last year. didn't get any ticks. Was getting numerous ticks on myself, and many on the dog each time he went in the woods, before I started using the vinegar. Just put white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray it on.

It works great sherwood/Sinn but it was beginning to be a chore with 3 dogs so started using this and it works great also.

When i've remembered to do it  i've squirted my boots before heading out to the woods.

Giz had a really bad experience with the drops. We found out from a vet later, that she prolly had a bad reaction to the drops and they "burned" a bit. From her reaction, it burned a lot. We use the tick collars now. She can still remember the drops tho (must smell similar) cause she paces for half a day until she gets used to it.

For clothing and gear, Scotty is a fan of Sawyer's Permethrin. When he talks about hundreds of ticks on him and he works in the woods biz… good enough fer me. My honey found some at Walmaht's and cleaned em out. Figure a swig of that chased with bar oil before heading into the woods… ;)

I dont remember the part 11 on the box Stinny? But Mrs loon is going down to the vets after work today and will post exactly what the stuff is :) good luck to the Giz this year with the pests :)

For some reason Emma loves this time of year???? Maybe its the rub downs she gets everynight when she is on the floor and me on the couch? She's clear right now but they are very hard to find on her big coat.

I'll bet. And like Giz, she's white. Can't imagine how, or even if, our neighbors check for ticks on their 2 Newfies. Whew.

Yeah, Giz lights up in the spring too. The smells make her nuts… very funny entertainment for us… :D
