For those of you that mix your own oil and gas, what ratio are you using? 40:1, 50:1, 100:1 ? Does it depend on what type saw you are using? Does it depend on how long you are going to be running the saw on a given day?

I run 40 to 1 cause I rather have a little to much smoke than not enough oil on things..

    I'm 40:1 for my little chainsaw. Doesn't mean I'm right though, it's just what I do.:saw:

I've been running 40:1 as well. Its just I've been questioning that since I burned up a Husq 353 the other day.

Oil goes in the small hole. Gas goes into the big one. It must be a variable ratio that arctic cat has engineered so it runs like mosquitoe fogger (8:1 or worse) at startup and then bleeds down to 60:1... Nervous it's going to explode ...after warm up. It's like magic or something...

    32:1 Dolmar 2 stroke oil & 89 Octane Rec gas. Easy math & I haven't smoked a 2 stroke on that mix in 35yrs.

50:1 for my saw and blower. That what the manufacturers say and the Stihl bottles are sized for 1 gallon of gas. 50:1 in my Evinrude too, even though they tried to recommend 100:1 for that year.

Close to 50:1in all our Stihl equipment. I try to put just a little less than 1gal on gas in the can. 93 octane, going to start non-E as soon as I finish up what we have mixed.

I run 25:1 on 95 octane no ethanol as recommended by my friend who owns the local Husqvarna dealership, due to our hot and dry climate I think the extra oil helps. The manuals for Husqvarna and Stihl both Say 50:1 but I think that is more for pollution requirements rather than engine longevity.

My buddy runs his sabre at much leaner than that. I think he says 80:1. I don't trust that and user either sabre or Lucas at 50:1 . I run e10 87 octane because all of my saws are designed to run e10.
