1. Do any of y'alls stove pipe screws "back out" on their own??? I'm guessing it's a heating/cooling thing. 2. Do any of y'all with Englander stoves have issues with the "hinge pins' working their way UP?? Almost to the point of not being "hinged" any longer.
Hinge pins work up time to time... either use my knife or the handle to the ash scoop to knock it back down...
Same thing on my quadrafire, and the lopi we had up at the cottage did the same as well. That's just a thing that happens,
One set of pins on my 13 did work itself up. My son noticed it a couple years back or so. Added a small amount of wd, tapped it back down and it has never recurred. As far as the stove pipe screws backing out, no and I haven't heard of that one. I do use sheet metal screws so maybe that is why? And maybe you have one of those hair dryer type fans on the stove? Maybe that likes to loosen things up!
Thanks y'all!! I'll try a bit of "lizard pizz/WD40" next time. The stove pipe screws................the ones that back out, will not tighten once bottomed out. I may need a larger diameter screw.
Never had the screws work out but then we usually put a dab of cement on them before screwing them in. Not entirely necessary but have always done that. Hinge pins do tend to work their way out from time to time but its not a big problem.
Had to make a new set for one stove, became to loose and would not close tight even on new gasket. took a couple tries on the lathe to get the taper just right, it isn't very much couple thousandths
my napoleon top hinge worked itself up a little bit but hasn't moved since. The bottom is still seated. I never bothered with the top one so long as it doesn't move up anymore. My screws have not needed any attention since the install 6-8 years now. Sure doesn't seem that long ago now..
