Cut 2 loads today. Not much but it all adds up. Red oak blow down in the background is next. Enjoying the fruits of my labor with some cold ones.
Nice work. Gotta ask, how does your UTV dump work with that much weight? Can you dump it or do you need to offload some? Always wondered.
It's all been down for a long time. A little punky on the outside but good heart wood. And thank you!
Honestly, I never tried to dump that much weight. I would say it probably would without any problems. I offload by hand since I stack it on pallets and top cover it until it gets split and stacked in it's final resting spot.
Looks great! Nice place! The last pic looks eerily similar to one I keep by my desk. My pic also has me in a similar pose holding a nice Cold Gold. The caption reads “Not a single damm will be given today”.
Nice. I'm usually drinking Busch but I couldn't pass on those bottles when I saw them. Been a while since I had the Banquet Beer
Hey that’s where I do my best work , next to the stove in my slippers enjoying a good beer and reading FHC. Does it get much better? Don’t think so.
Nice work DaveD84! What were you watching? Kinda looks like sumo wrestling by looking at the guy on the left. It's hard to make out though...
Here is an older but better picture of the hearth. I did all the work myself including installing the zero clearance unit. The mantle is actually from a red oak I cut down when clearing for the house. Spent 12 years in the trades, mostly masonry work. I'm a desk jockey now so I really enjoy the labor of processing wood.
A lot of thermal mass there! The face of the stonework is so level, it reminds me of a paved road in Europe. And that thick oak timber is a perfect contrast. Beautiful work.
Dave, what is Banquet beer? Nice work. Nice home. Looks like that room is on the upper level so you no doubt also have a great view.
Coors Original, some refer to it as the "Banquet Beer" around here. Yep, upper level of a walkout ranch. That side is all above grade with a garage/workshop underneath. View is OK when the leaves are gone but in the summer can't see much. I'm about half way up the side of the mountain too, there are windmills right above me at the top of the mountain. I'd love to buy the property across from me and clear a lane. Then you'd be able to see forever. Thanks for the kind words!
It’s delicious is what it is. I guess it was one of the first beers around in the mining towns and miners popularized it. Drinking it after a long day of work at their banquets.
