I'm in need of new boxes for under my flatbed truck. I had Buyers steel powdercoated boxes on it but they disintegrated. Thinking about aluminum this time but I'm not so sure. They have polished stainless, big bucks .... I'm not really a "polished" kind of guy.
I plan on keeping the truck a long time.
    I need 2@18"Tx18"Dx24"W
    And 2@ 18"Tx18"Dx30"W
As always any help would be appreciated !!

I install these boxes on trucks quite often. The powder coated boxes we use the most, if they don't get crushed they usually do rust out like yours did. Aluminum is alright I'm just not a big fan of aluminum, stainless looks the best and lasts the longest but I'm not too fond of flashy either. Not sure how you had the last ones mounted but I mount them with a 1/4 x 2 inch strap on each end (or angle if you'd rather. Matching strap inside box which sits up against the top of the box, and bolts through. Don't forget to add a drain hole or 2 if they aren't in there already.

I actually made a stainless frame to suspend them from. 4 holes in each reinforcement plates inside. Powder coat and the price difference makes it's short life still somewhat acceptable. The weather guard stuff looks to be pretty good. I like the rain gutter and seal design. Do you like a certain brand ? Thanks for your help !

We've used weather guard also, I do like their doors and handles better. I don't know if they will last longer or not, our guys tear boxes up like it's part of the job so I typically replace boxes that are crushed before they get worn out.

It sounds like your mounts will work great

What about galvanized steel or a non shiny lower grade of SS?

Do they even make them in those options?

Probably have some made out of stainless but they’d be expensive if you want them to last a good while. Probably could make them in a few hours with the pieces pre cut and a mig welder.

That was the original plan. I was going to copy weather guards and buy latches and seals from them. But my shop is swamped with work and (hopefully) there's no end in sight.
