Got some wood cutting done at the cabin last week. Tree was about 120 years old. It was part of a tree that has 4 trunks coming out of one stump. Lots of leaves down and quite a few changing still. It happened, and heres the pics!

Looks like a great day to be out in the woods, and a bonus with the family (double bonus for the red oak). Doesn't get much better. :dex:

Nothing better than a day out cutting and splitting with the family. Great view, great tools, great job.

Thanks! Everybody was out helping. I actually dropped the butt end of the tree down in a little swale and had to chain and drag it outta there. Then i just piled all the logs up in one of the few flat spots there in the woods so that i could spit it up. Wonder if i have any pics of that?

Yeah I used my trusty 361 to buck with. 20" light bar with RS chain. The deere is a 3039, traded in my 2305 for it in February. I have already put 70+ hours on it.
I know some dont like the splitter on the tractor (for all kinds of reasons), but i do as we can all stand around and split wood together and have a conversation without a gasser beating our eardrums lol.

Yeah i like burning red oak. We have alot of it in our woods, and alot of it dying right now for some reason. Seems like we have one big red oak tree every year die. Two years ago we had a monster tree, it was over 36" in diameter and 100+ feet tall. Here is the end on the sawmill.
