We had great weather in southern Ohio this weekend and spent the majority of my time being with my youngest daughter, and Emma the pooch, cutting, splitting and stacking. I was proud of my daughter who worked hard helping with the wood. Wore her out I think, but that's good for kids. :)

I had some cherry that has been stacked in the woods for at least 5 or 6 years that needed to come out in the sun to be ready for this winter. Checked the moisture on a split and it was at 15%. Pretty sure it will come down a bit more in the sun this summer. What a pleasure using the Hydro splitter!! What was I thinkin all these years?

The oak had a few crotch pieces that I never would have messed with before and ended up being quite a bit of wood that I use to leave in the woods.

The rest of the time we cut, split and stacked almost a half cord of scarlet oak from a storm damaged tree. Had to hand split the 22" rounds in half, so I could pick them up and get them out of the woods to the splitter. I'll cut up another cord of oak next. :)

    Nice set up !
    Nice stacks !
Single row , out in good air circulation. Prime seasoning conditions.
A top cover possible ? ( To get you thru the spring rains )

Great weekend to be out cutting wood.

Thanks guys... It was a great weekend for cutting wood. I have a lot of shoulder wood cut and stacked. I really need to focus this year on getting more oak in the pile since it takes longer to season.

I might try to find some of that black rubber roofing material to cover the tops of the stacks at some point.

    Nice stacks of wood:thumbs:

Looks like a red oak behind one of the stacks need to come down - the one with the bark popping. The best firewood trees are those within 50ft of the stacking area

Isn't that the truth, and good eye you have! :)

Its a scarlet oak that the top blew off in a storm and I have the top cut up but not the 25 foot tall, 24" around trunk. which will land right next to the woodpile. :) How's that for luck?

Boy wasn't a nice weekend in Ohio Fan.....I split most of the day Saturday other than a little mower repair. Got everything moved around so I can start stacking my split pile then took some measurements. Have 14 cords split and stacked and a big pile of fresh split to stack.

That would be nice, but no it's a JD 825i. I use it all the time for just about everything including getting wood in.

It was nice having my buddy with us all day....

That's a crazy amount of wood you have done already! You should take a few pictures.

    It was a nice weekend!!

That is indeed an XUV series vehicle then! 625i, 825i, and the 850i are all closely related and serious workhorses. The 825i is my favorite. That's the Suzuki 3 cyl powered model IIRC. Enjoy it, a blast to drive, durable as the tractors that bear the same name, and some serious off-road hauling capability you have there. I like your style.

Also digging the trailer, 12 ft tandem axle?

You're right, I guess I was thinking of the RSX series which is their high performance cross over Gator. It is a work horse and something I use almost every day. Power dump is nice too.

The trailer is an odd duck being only a 12 footer with tandem axles. I didn't have the space for a 14 or 16 at the time and needed the extra weight capacity for the JD2720.

Not so odd, I was considering one that size myself, the 12 footers can take the heaviest loads. ;) Tube rails too, nice...... I doubt the dually knows it's back there however. 2720..... sweet machines they are too.

Like I said, I like your style!
