I made my way up top for the first time since last year, in pic 8871 this widowmaker (maple) came down across the trail, pic 8872 is a nice size branch from a red maple, pic 8873 is coming down the trail into the bowl, 8874 is coming out of the bowl.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense.
I remember seeing the pics from another post and it looks like a great many opportunities there.
    Amazing scenery.

Most of the downed wood is Cherry. The wind storms saves me from felling any trees.

Yes, most of the wood that is down is on the low part of our property. With what we have in the woods in rounds (from last fall and this winter) and what I plan on cutting, I'm looking for a total of four cord (not face) by the end of May, weather permitting.

Last fall was the last time I was up top, I hauled out a chit load of Sugar Maple, I still have some nice size rounds up there from another Maple, Sugar I hope.

Beautiful land you have there. Looks like you have quite the canopy during the summer!

I think you have quite the selection of wood for burning since you take what falls during the year. I like the selection myself even though they're not all the most desirable firewood. :)

    Are those pines or hemlocks?

Thanks DexterDay, after the wind events & the ice storm it's a wreck but I'll get some of it cleaned up.

The Cherry seems to take the worst hit during any wind events, we'll take it.
