Just killing some time while grilling dinner. First pic taken from in front of my barn. Shouldnt do any damage when it finally does fall. How many cords in each of the second an third pics? White oaks.

I'm not sure how many cords, but now I have a kink in my neck.
I cant believe that tree in the first pic is still standing. It reminds me of that rock on the waterfall that is balanced just right. Good thing its not over your house.
I'm going to guess a cord on the tree. Its hard to get a perspective.

28" and 34" DBH. Its two different trees even thought the same corner of the house is in both pics. Heres a different angle with them both. Sideways pics dont help at all but its the iphone using the only angle where ican get most of the tree in the shot. Mod home?

That first tree creaks and groans an aweful lot. Broke like that a few weeks before sandy and stayed like that through the hurricane. I dont like it there but to get it down i would have to work on two trees that are under it so i stay away. Gravity will win eventually

Most of the charts say you should get 5ish out of the two of them. Those size trees are the way to make firewood IMO.

Glad to see your chart shows about what I've thought I was getting for cord amounts. I've always just remembered a 14" dia. straight ash (at chest height) will yield around a half cord. So, I usually will drop a half dozen for a year's supply. (I'll burn less than 3 cord tho in a normal year)

A 34" DBH red oak will easily yield 2+ cords alone. Plus is depending on how much is in the crown. Yours look like they had some competition so they will yield less than an open growing one.
