It cooled off here and I got the itch to cut some wood. I had a post oak on the edge of the yard that I’d targeted for removal. The previous owner had a burn pile close to this tree several years back so it had a big scar up one side of it and a couple of spots showing some early rot.

Got it all bucked and ready to move to the splitter.

Bucked and moved. Now if that splitting fairy will show up while I’m at work next week, I’ll have it made!

I've left the splitter out by a pile of rounds overnight . They didn't split themselves. Not once.

Here I thought the splitter fairy didn't show up at my place cause I left out the x27 instead of the splitter. I just thought he was lazy....

Brad M those are the kind a like to cut up. Little to no leaves, just buck it up and go. Is that chalk with the measure stick on the stump or grease marker?

It’s a lumber crayon like this.

They work pretty good. I can’t remember but it might have been Backwoods Savage that turned me on to using them.

Do you have a preference for color ?
I've been using kids leftover chalk but at the end of the day I usually have broken pieces in my pocket.
They still work but I don't have much left.

I’ve only used the red but it stands out pretty good

    Good days work Brad M

I also agree that the temps have gotten much more conducive to tree work

Don't know if you BBQ or not, but Post Oak makes some of the best beef brisket and beef ribs I've ever had, in my opinion.

I do enjoy BBQing. I don’t think I’ve tried post oak before. I’ll give it a shot! I think Franklin BBQ uses it so it’s gotta be good, right?

I used to think they worked pretty good too until I didn't have any one day and used my kids sidewalk chalk. I have never bought and lumber markers since.

Thanks Brad. If you have any problem with those breaking you might pick up a holder for it.

I've seen the red and yellow ones at HD, but they are two of each color in a pack. Which is probably what sells for someone who already has a color preference.
Chalk doesn't work so well on wet bark either. At least not crumbly, course red maple and oak bark.
