any woodcarvers on here? Been playing around with it a little here lately and figured I'd see if any of y'all were into it. Did this axe the other day and put it in a stump. Also did two links of a chain this afternoon. I want to try to do an axe in stump where they are made from a single solid piece and plan to try for a chain with 5 or 6 links here in the near future
I met a guy two weeks ago that wants me to start carving.....a woman listening in asked if its hard to learn? I started laughing and said don't give the secret. All you have to do is get a piece of wood and remove anything that doesn't look like the object you're carving!
I do a fair amount. Not so much as whittling, but more power carving with a Foredom tool making decorative birds and such. I've been at it over 20 years now. The latest was a Canada Goose head. Turkey feather. I've done gunning decoys, a goose, loons, songbirds... I'm due to make something soon when life calms down. My dad does some amazing stylized carving work such as this seashell in mahogany. Every time I visit, I pick up a few of his carvings and look them over.
