We are looking at replacing our 35 year old insert this summer and we got a quote on 3 different inserts. They are all close in price. Our 3 choices are: Pacific Enerty traditional super. Lopi 1750i. Lopi Revere. It will be going into a Majestic ZC fireplace. Looking for opinions on which one might be the best.
I don't own one but I think there is a few members that have pacific energy stoves and seem to like them.
I have a Lopi Revere insert. Ran a Lopi Endeavor stand alone for 14 yrs. They both are really good stoves. Insert is much easier to disassemble to clean than the free standing was. It's a good stove. As always, YMMV.
I've heard nothing but good things about the PE Super...I don't know enough about the Lopi's to really comment.
Well, you know Scotty Overkill will reco the Napoleon line, but that ain’t on yer list.... Hope to read about a successful purchase and subsequent install soon....
Lopi makes great stoves. We have had our endeavor for around 20 yrs at the cottage. Pacific Energy makes good units too from what I hear from members here. It sounds like you can't go went with any choice. Post up pics. Also what does the wife say as far as aesthetics?
We are leaning towards the Lopi Revere but no final decision yet. She does not like the looks of the brass or pewter doors so we will go with black doors on what ever we get.
We made our decision and the Lopi Revere gets the nod. I have requested they do a burn in of the stove before installation to get rid of the smell. It might happen. It may be a month before install but pics will follow. Thanks for you input on this project.
Lopi 1750i here heating our 1100 sf ranch Ailey on wood! Burns clean and efficient as can be! Only trouble I’ve had is the top bypass hanging up. The remedy to the situation..... keep it clean starting every hearing season and keep an eye on the brick supports in the top that they don’t warp and sag. Otherwise I love it and buy another if this one ever wears out!
I’ll add this in from last winter. Now is NOT the time!!!! No ones fault but my own for not cleaning by it out in the fall.
I would caution that you ask how they plan to do that. If its done HOT and FAST, it can come out splotchy looking and wont quite as resilient.
J. Dirt In looking at the specs of the 1750i and the Revere, the firebox on both are the same. I think the only differences are the door choices on the Revere. It will be a steep learning curve going from an old fashioned steel box to a new EPA certified stove.
The method stated in the manual calls for a medium fire and not a hot fire. Maybe it would be best to do that myself after install and make sure the windows are all open. Thanks for the heads up.
I’ll tell you what.... it is a simple operating stove and I think you will really like it and learn to operate it fast. I’m sure our set ups will be a bit different as far as flue heights and draft and such, but I’ll give you my SOP. I use one of the little pressed cardboard fire starter squares in between two smaller splits. Then surrounded with a full load. Open the air, the bypass and leave the door open half an inch. Get it going good then close the door. For me once I hit 325 ish stove top I can close the bypass. Run it to 450-500 and use the air control to hit that cruising sweet spot then enjoy the show! I can load it in the morning before work and come home at 4 at the end of the day and manage a hot restart out of the firebox. Same at night. Again you’ll really like it!!
Ours didn’t stink much at all, I just followed the manual instructions. I’d do it myself so they don’t make a mess of it on accident
