I posted a month or so ago about big walnut blow down on my. Inlaws farm. Finally had some time to process it. Before pics During pic After pic. The row is 30ft long, so there is a total of a little over 1 cord, I thought it would be a little more than that The base of the trunk was the only rotten part of the entire tree! For scale that's my 660 with 32" bar.
And it was 90+ degrees and buggy. Needed lots of water, and more breaks than usual. Typical SD weather, record snow in April and record heat in May. Should have been sking in a lake somewhere!
Nice work, especially in that heat! WOW Too bad you lost that old tree though. Any idea on its age? I'm guessing it's been there a long long time.
Not sure how old, I didn't think to count rings Not really a big loss, the house on the background is dilapidated and abandoned, my inlaws live across the road. We've been trying to get them to clear the land or sell the acreage, but falling on deaf ears for now, I guess the trees will just keep getting bigger and producing more BTU's
