Had the plans to post a before & after picture of this beast I had an arborist take down.

Unfortunately things were progressing too smoothly and he was mostly done by noon until he went to move the bucket truck and a hydraulic line blew.

Several gallons of fluid on my lawn later and the truck is waiting for a new hose until morning.

Looks like I'll be digging out the top few inches of my lawn and getting some new loam and seed down.

chit happens but he was able to finish the job and now I get to handle the rest of the cleanup. Maybe next weekend I'll have time for the after pic.

I chuckled when I read the title - been there. :D

Too bad about the lawn. When I saw the pic at first I was thinking, “oh no, that was a nice shed!” So it coulda been worse I guess, right? Mowing is no fun anyway. :) I’m trying to cover my lawn with logs to protect against grass.

I would just fence the area off from thr kids to start with. Then take a wait and see stance for a while before I started digging out and hauling in dirt.

Have you given thought to what you would do with the oil soaked dirt any way?

Remediation- they just haul it somewhere else and spread it out on the surface. Quote from an acquaintance that was in the biz. Got to love Gov.- require you to dig it all out, fill back in with clean stuff? only to dig all back out again to put a giant building on the site- Oxymoron in my book.

Are you carving a totem pole with the standing trunk?

Nah, plan to mill it when time permits. Let it stay put until I can clear up the mess around it. I bought a Granberg chainsaw mill and haven't even used it.

That was a big one, I'll bet you're glad it's down. I do like Shawn's idea of covering the grass with logs.
