Well today was one to go down in the personal historic memory, the Ejector Pit from hell the last concrete placement took place today. This fricking pit has cost me definitely a few years of my life in stress, frustration and mental anguish for over 2 months. It consisted of 8 concrete placements including the underpinning, Matt slab, walls and what we placed today the final slab on grade placement.

This is down at the lowest grade on the 260 k sq.ft footprint of this job and was plagued with water issues, structural issues, and just overall near impossible task to complete. It required 5 RFI's (request for information) 3 structural changes which all of which I had to come up with as the structural engineer provided nothing except BS responses as he could not figure it out. But today at 3:00 PM it has been completed and I for one am thankful this happened before I lost my chite. The Battle on this one is over and the stubborn old MIC did not succumb. In the fall of 2003 while jogging with our dog (120lb Dalmatian) he saw something in the bushes and shot sideways and I jerked my back. Over the next couple months the pain kept getting worse, weird muscle spasms in my right leg, numbness, pain in certain parts of leg. Insurance wouldn't cover an MRI until I did physical therapy. The day after every PT session I couldn't go to work it hurt so bad. Then in the docs office a few months later he's giving me the reflex test (the tap the knee w/little hammer one) and my right leg responded very slowly. Doc got insurance to finally agree to the MRI. MRI finds ruptured 5th lumbar disc, bulging 4th lumbar disc. Still had to wait 6 more weeks before surgery. Doc said afterwards damage was worse than MRI showed. Was OK after operation for 6 months then one day in shower turned and right leg went wet noodle. Spent New Years Eve 2004 in an MRI machine. Found scar tissue was pressing on nerve channels on spine. Had a series of epidurals then was on neurontin (gabapentin) for a couple years until I was fed up with the side effects. Still have some pain in back and right leg but have been able to live with it.

Wife having the same "they won't pay for an MRI" issue with her right shoulder. Docs think rotator cuff but insurance won't do the MRI, says PT. Well she's done PT over the last year and it's not helping.
