Wifey said I can't get a splitter because they are to much. So I just loaded the driveway up with rounds and she was like when are you going to split it and move it out back so the front doesnt look like trash. I said I'm not splitting and moving it till I get a splitter but I will continue to add to the pile. Added another 2 cords this week and she came home and gave me the ok to buy a splitter tomorrow haha gonna get one of the 25t from TSC
Here's one for you, I have the wife help me move stuff around out on the shop sometimes, because I'd rather ask for help then have a hernia. So with her being pregnant she told me she can't help me move stuff all the time anymore. 2 weeks later I brought home a tractor! Guess she told me didn't she! In all seriousness, she gave me the greenlight but that's the story she tells, that she told me she can't help so I interpreted that to "go buy a tractor instead of asking for my help" Guess I'll have to start asking for her help with some other chores they make fun equipment with
Perfect! Thankfully, my wife has zero to do.with the finances. I could come home with a supercar and she probably wouldn't question it more than making sure we can afford it. Two weeks ago I was using the maul to split some rounds, and it really set my back off. I was in obvious pain. Threw in the towel and said I'm buying a splitter and she agreed I need to. I'm picking up the same one today.
Awesome news! Your back and your free time are important, as well as getting next winter's wood split before the hot weather.
Pics will definitely be in order! Backwoods Savage won't agree with my methods though. Sitting on a milk crate doesn't do well for me, and lifting the rounds.....within reason will be exercise.
On the contrary, I interpret that to do EXACTLY what I want...I mean, I just got told to do whatever I want, and I’m not good at detecting whether there was sarcasm in that statement. Not my fault, and it’s successfully got me a new truck, a couple new saws, splitter, outdoor wood boiler and pressure washer. The only skeptical comment was my new trailer, which drew a “that looks expensive. I don’t want to know.” Don’t want to know? Fair enough! But I will give credit where credit is due, the wife did voluntarily tell me that I need to go get a tractor. Score!
Nicely played Bran! Before I got my splitter, I had my wife come out and try to swing the maul and crack open a few honey locust rounds which I told her is an easy splitting wood. Which is true, if you can actually swing a maul decently. She gave a few good "A for effort" tries and never put up a fuss again about me getting a splitter.
Nothing says you have to sit on a crate. Just get what is the right height for you. Much better than lifting and your back will appreciate it. Or, you can just take the chance of ruining your back and continue lifting until you get as bad as I am. Then you'll split sitting whether you want to or not.
For you guys just buying splitters, I predict it will take about 2 minutes for you to wonder how you ever got along without them. Don't think it took me even that long. One log and I was dancing! Well, sort of.
I am sure I will be ecstatic. The only reason I've held out is that I enjoy splitting with an axe, and the workout was great.
I don't understand this concept of your wife dictating what you can and what you can't do. Do you work? Are the bills paid? Stomachs full? Money going into retirement and savings? If the answer is yes, then do whatever you want. Edit. This applies to anyone not necessarily the original poster.
