They already knew more than they needed to know! No, I don't have all the answers! And I don't think I ever did! Have fun with this...pass it on so we're not the only ones who feel stupid
There isn't a high school graduate nor any college grad that could pass that test currently. They might ace one or two sections , the rest would leave them dumbfounded. It would be interesting to to see answers from current students regarding the revolutionary war causes and effects. That sure would tell how far education has slipped. ( no gold stars for everyone in those days). I was also informed that most of this test was no longer relevant - and then the fight started.
Back then, in most of the smaller schools, older children helped teach and tutor the younger students. So, the older students had to know and understand more than they were teaching. Now days we can't even have students of more than 3 years apart in the same school, much less the same classroom. Hey, and there was just a big out roar over the fact that older students were riding in the same bus as younger students in one school district (okay, it started over an incident of foul language, but then turned into we shouldn't have older kids with younger kids). Although everything wasn't necessarily better in the old days, it seems to me the practice of mingling younger and older students certainly had some advantages over what goes on today.
wouldn't doubt that for second. I have heard grade schoolers rip off lines of expletives that would make even the hardest of us blush.
