I have an 038 AV Mag II that I picked up used about 10 years ago. I had it serviced by a licensed dealer/repair facility in Duvall WA and it's run great ever since. The only thing they had to 'fix' was replacing the diaphragm in the carb (it would bog down at full rap). Over the past two years, it's developed an odd habit of revving really high just as it runs out of fuel. Like the last 10-20% of the tank. Power is still there, it cuts like a demon with the higher RPM but it makes me a little jumpy. I'd say the RPM's pick up by about 25%. I tend to shut it down and take a fule break when it starts to wind up, since I know I'm down to the last third of a tank. I'm worried it's a symptom of another problem... We only burn about 4 cords a year, so it's not a really heavily used saw.
Replace the fuel line. I will bet it has a hole in it, when the fuel covers it all is good @ 1/3 of a tank it sucks air.
I'd have to agree as well! And welcome to the site AdalynFarmBoy nice to meet you. This is a good place with what seems to be an endless amount of info. I am sure others will be along to voice there opinions on your issue.
