I'm going to try to do some compared testing this coming week but it's unlikely. I have surgery scheduled Friday and it was very short notice but I can get it over with now but I'll be restricted for 3 weeks. I have quite a few things to do and if I get them done I'll hit the woods.

Good luck with the surgery! Not a bad time of year to spend taking it easy for a few weeks.

Back surgery went well but I'm restricted from lifting over 10#'s for 3 weeks. I'm sure I'll be rearing to go in 3 weeks and I'll spend a few hours testing.

    Good to hear!

Ask the Doc if he will up it to 11 lbs! Then you can lift your 261!!

    Good luck with your recovery!

I haven't been able to cut any wood yet but my 3 week restriction is up this Friday. Now to make things more difficult I picked up a pretty rough ms260 for cheap so I'll have to do a 3 way test now.

Get well quick bang! I can't wait to hear your comparison of your 026/270/261!

I have a 026 and 260 and don't notice a difference when cutting. I do like the flippy caps on the 260...

I finally got to do some serious wood cutting today with the 261c vs an 026. Both have .325 chains sharpened before I headed to the woods. I started with the 261 and I was in white oak tops from about 13" down to 4". I was totally satisfied with the 261 and then fired up the 026 and it wasn't much if any different. I think the 261 has a slight edge and it feels better cutting but I can't explain why, I used it for the most part after comparing.
Here's a picture of the top I was cutting and some pics of the area I'm cutting in that's adjoining my property. 20180206_141004.jpg 20180206_140927.jpg 20180206_140926.jpg 20180206_140920.jpg

I didn't compare the 260 because I had a chance to use it a week ago and it's nothing to brag about. I used it alternately with my 250 and it wasn't much better.

Thanks for the info bang . I have always wanted an 026. If you like the 261 better I feel better about not having one:). I will get a 241 someday...

I decided to tweak the 260 to see if I could get it cutting a little better. I bought an am carb with 2 adjusting screws and did a muff mod, it's a different saw. I don't have the carb quite where I want it yet but it's close. I still don't think it's as good as my 026's or my 261 but it's pretty good.

I got the carb set correctly and it's got good power. I had to set the carb with a tach as I must of lost my ear for tuning.

Pretty cool bang, thanks for the info on the saws. Looks like where you are cutting has been logged recently.

Bet you are fairly close to me, being that you are in south central IN.

60 acres next to me was purchased by a guy that owns a sawmill and cut everything above about 8" diameter.

Not close to the forest but I'm close to Owen County, between Paragon and Lewisville. You probably know the owner of the sawmill, it's the big one in Martinsville.
I see your screen name is Spencer, is that where you are?
