I heard about this and gave it a try. Works great. Just drill a hole in a golf ball that is slightly smaller than the file and pound on. They fit into the palm of your hand better than the plastic file handles. Since I am a golfer and pick up about 2 five gallon pails a season, I should have a good supply.
I agree...what a great idea !! I use some saws with the 3/8 LP chains....and the files are so small..that they end up just sliding out of the normal file holders after a period of time . This looks like a great alternative ! I usually have a bucket full of golf balls.....that I use for plinking with my .22 rifle
Might have to give that a try. My hands are kind of big, wondering if it will be effective. Something to do in the garage today
If you want to see something amazing, throw golf balls straight up in the air and shoot with a 12 gauge. Pull the trigger when the ball is 3-4 from the muzzle. If you hit it square, it will go 200-300' in the air. If you hit it off center it will slice or hook. One day I was doing this after a round of sporting clays and one went a good 100 yards in the air, but it sliced about 50 yards off to the side and almost landed on some cars. I never did that near cars again.
Thanks. I picked up that saw and my 346XP from my dealer yesterday. My 346XP was ported and the work was just finished. This is mine This other saw was purchased from the dealer yesterday for a friend. It was rebuilt with a new OEM P/C and finished with a Total (Tsmura) bar. All of them:
Yup he is great. Turn around was not fast as he does it in his spare time, but it didn't matter as I am not exactly "short" of saws. I was quite fortunate because when he tore my saw down he found the intake pipe was leaking after doing a vac test prior to putting it back together. The clamp was holding the intake pipe together and would cause a lean condition. NO DAMAGE was done to the P/C which he said was in excellent condition. BTW, he felt bad it took so long and only charged me $60 for porting but I had to buy an intake pipe and rim sprocket for 30 bucks. Bad intake pipe with chunk out of it.
Be darn sure to remove the file before you hit them golf balls. I can't help but think it will mess with not only the trajectory, but distance as well! Possibly even accuracy will be damaged! If one of them balls has the initials TJ on it, I want it back! Ted
The loggers I see all cut about a 1" diameter hunk of pine branch and pound the files into them. The dirty oily hands they use smooth them up and put a pretty neal looking finish on them. Have to try the shotgun golf ball thing. Would of thought shooting one at 3 feet would obliterate it though?
The trick is the toss. Throw it as straight up as possible so it is coming straight down at you. At 3-4' your pattern is the size of a quarter.
Thats why I never think id hit the thing! Have u tries it with 3.5" turkey loads out of aturkey choke??
