We're thinking she's part ridgeback, not sure about the rest lol. My wife got her from a rescue 3 yrs ago. Myway, that's a good lookin chocolate. Well trained too!
I'm thinking mostly, if not all ridgeback. Great dogs. Good for you for rescuing, looks like you got a good one there.
Does yours use her front paws way more than normal dogs? I swear ours thinks she has two hands! We thought she was maybe part boxer too? Here's a few better pics of her
I would be surprised if she is anything but purebred ridgeback. She sure looks like it. It is not very uncommon for a litter to have a ridgeless pup in it. Unfortunately some breeders will get rid of the perfectly good dog just because it does not have the ridge. You hit the jackpot when you rescued her IMHO. Ridgebacks are awesome dogs, and yes, mine uses her front paws as hands. She thinks she is a person. I have quite a bit of ridgeback experience, feel free to PM me with any questions or advice with training.
That is a nice looking dog. My half Walker Hound is also very "handed". I saw a show once that was talking about research into what makes a good therapy dog, and one of the things they looked at was whether the dog was right or left handed (pawed), they measured that by noting which leg the dog would naturally step off on. One of the other measures was which way the swirls on the dogs fur rotated, clock wise or counter clockwise. I don't remember the relationship and I don't think it got any deeper than a correlation between the observed trait and experience with which traits made a good therapy dog. It was an interesting show "The secret life of dogs", IIRC.
