Because some possibly nasty weather coming toward us I decided to put a little more wood on the porch and while I was at it also brought one more load to the barn. We're not putting as much in the barn this winter though; just enough to get us through a nasty period in case we have one. It is a mixture of oak and ash with just a little soft maple mixed in. When done we'll probably had a cord in there. And after working outdoors in some warmer weather, the feet sweat a bit so time for some boot drying. These are soapstone blocks (Woodstock sells them) we keep on top of the stove. After working outdoors we simply put one block in each boot for a short period of time and it dries any moisture that is in there. Much cheaper than the electric boot driers and work perhaps just a little better too. You can also use them for glove or mitten driers.
btw, I may or may not be on the forum tomorrow. It is opening day of Michigan's rifle deer season. It is supposed to rain but that won't stop me! Nor will it stop the deer.
Someone usually asks me when the weather is bad/poor/stormy.....Are the deer out today? Yup, they're out every day! I like the soapstone approach.
Nice cart, I lost mine when I taught the wood wingwoman how to drive. Man that sure do a lot of work that I don’t have to. I like those boot warmers also.
I’m liking the stone slabs! I’m out in the slop all day and every night my boots are hanging on the drier this might be a new something to try! Good luck with the hunting in the morning hope the weathers not to bad. Our gun season opens Saturday spose I should probably go dust off the ol’ 1100 punkin’ chunker. By the way it’s supposed to be nasty here Saturday so we shall see if it’s woods and deer or working
