    Hi,

I purchased a pleasant hearth from home depot and it showed up yesterday only to find that the 6 inch connection into the flue/brickwork is too low!

I have done some research and think a Hi-Flame will fit. It is 24 inches top to bottom. The flue opening is 27 inches from the ground so by the time I put a 90 degree elbow on there and put it on a non combustible base I think it will fit.

Does anyone have any experience with Hi-Flame? I think they are either Irish or British. Does anyone know of other small stoves? I posted the Amazon Link to the Hi-Flame.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

There is the 6 in. flue connection. The stove that was there before (which I intend on using in another room) is a 1890's Penn Franklin coal stove which exhausted out the back.

Note the forlorn pleasant hearth leg in the right of the picture!

Does the stove have legs or a pedestal? Depending on how the legs are made...you could cut them down shorter...I did that on one stove in the past...it was really easy on that stove because it hold bolt on stamped steel legs...took about 20 minutes to shorten them.
What do you have planned for a hearth?
EDIT: I looked it up...you are in luck, looks like it does use stamped steel bolt on legs...assuming you didn't get the pedestal model...

Thanks for the input. Since it is going to be on combustibles, I am really hesitant on doing any personal modifications. For the hearth, I am planning on getting an inch think stone slab that meets the distance requirements to stick out beyond the footprint of the stove based on the operator's manual.

I'm confused, you said Since it is going to be on combustibles
That inch think stone slab isn't combustible and very little heat comes out the bottom if an EPA stove .
I've seen other people cut the legs down shorter

I meant that the stove will be on the slab which will be sitting on the wood floor. I returned it, and will shop for something smaller.

The large door is a pizza oven with an opening for the smoke to go and the bottom is a clean out.
