The pics are from last fall, but they are turning quickly.... It will look like that around here in another week or so!
See?! Heating with wood all those years helped pay for cool toys instead of just lining "the mans" pockets!
I haven't saved enough for a car yet... But ive got some saws and a splitter ... and payed for my stove and flue liner
Still saving here. At least everything is paid for....everything! Trying to work my way up to this! You don't think I set my goal too high, do ya?
So this is my baby. 1991 GMC Jimmy. Last year of the body style and first year for the Bahama Blue Metalic color. There were only around 3,000 K5's total made in 1991. Typically there are 2/3 Chevy vs. GMC and there are other colors that are more prevalent (red, black, white) so I think it's a pretty rare vehicle given the year and color. I'm the third owner. I bought it 5 years ago and it had under 50,000 miles on it. I only drive it in nice weather, but I drive it as much as I can.
Yup. Only two were made; the one you speak of was owned by Carroll himself. Dual superchargers on it. Bill Cosby owned it's twin but sold it since it was too scary! The guy who bought it died in it.
Love the truck. I've always had a soft spot for those square body GM trucks. That blue looks great, that's actually very close to the B5 blue on my dad's Road Runner. About 18 or so years ago I remember seeing a Spirit of '76 Chevy/GMC truck sitting at an abandoned welding shop out in the middle of nowhere and I stopped to check it out. It was rusted pretty bad but not completely gone. The LMC catalog had everything to fix it. 454 truck, still had all of the Spirit badging/decals visible, etc. and within the last few years I noticed it was gone. I wish I would have known what it was 18 years ago...hope it's getting restored and didn't just get hauled off. A guy in town has a '77ish? Chevy/GMC truck...forget the name, but it's a factory 454 black with the "skunk" stripes. It might be called an Indy Hauler or something if I remember right.
Yah, I'm a squarebody GM guy for sure. Looking now to replace my 2000 K35oo dump with a one-ton K30 dually. I like the straight axles much better.
Guess i never responded to this. I bought it with the 427 in it. Its a Z-car so should have been a 327 car. I had the aluminum heads redone and had a solid cam put in it. Redid the 780 holley and found it wasn't getting full throttle.. Made new linkages for that. 4 speed was pretty junky, so i used a powerglide and stall converter. It was kinda ridiculous.. Lol
