I'm not planning on living at the house I'm at now for more then 5-6 years but want to put up a wood shed. So my thought is I would better off getting a metal carport and then I can take it apart and take it with me when I move. Anyone know where I can buy a kit? They are advertised around here for as low as $695 for a 12x21 installed but I'm thinking I should be able to get a kit and put it up myself for cheaper

G'day and welcome to the club pererjack.

Using a carport is a great idea.
Sorry I can't help you on the prices but someone should be along shortly that will.

The ones I looked at were actually more for DIY! :picard:
There is a used one I have been looking at locally...save a lil money over new, but hafta figure out how to move it, or disassemble/reassemble it...does have a nice overhead door in it already....decisions, decisions...

I was thinking that <$700 for an installed carport was ridiculously cheap. It is always nice to have a dream though

    Welcome to the forum peterjack

A carport can work very nicely for stacking wood and yes, to be able to move it later would be a plus. Around here one can't seem to find (or couldn't when we put one up) a do-it-yourself for any less than the ones they put up. So it saved us a lot of work and they did a really good job and a quick one of putting it up. Rather than a carport though we put sides and ends on along with 2 overhead doors and a few windows and one walk-in door. It is really nice as a barn. Wish it were bigger though, which usually seems the case when putting something like this up.

Yup. No wood will go into the barn this fall. Through the winter we'll do the old way; get from stacks as needed.
