The weather was perfect for cutting and splitting today. Knocked off at 2 and decided to hook big red up to the trailer and head back in the woods and cut up a few. Since the temps were so cool I didn't even get winded cutting so I decided to just split and stack it right away. This past weekend I gave 5.5 cord of ash from my big cube to my in-laws which opened up a pocket where I decided to go with a "5 banger" beechnut style. And yes, I used T-posts for this one as I was simply too lazy to crib the ends.

Todays haul, which is the rounds in the pics were cherry, hickory, maple and a little red oak. IMG_3323.JPG IMG_3325.JPG

Nice you got out while the weather was a bit cool. When I cut in the summer I try to do it high elevation or on a cloudy day.

Yes, we've had nice weather for getting some hard work done. But, we now face July and August...

I'm praying for a mild July and August, I have so much I need to get accomplished in the woods and I don't want to leave anything lay another year. This sewer project has certainly dumped more wood on me than I was hoping for. I just finished the second pile they stacked up for me, they bucked most of em around 16' and stacked them along the pipeline road. Each pile so far has yielded around 4 cord. I have 5 more stacks that size to get hauled out. Problem is, I cannot get to most of it at the moment because it's literally in a swamp. So, hopefully July and August bring mild temps and no rain lol.

This is a pic of the first pile that I started cutting and hauling last fall and finished about 2 weeks ago. This was the smallest of all 7 stacks. IMG_1097.JPG IMG_1099.JPG

5 banger- however many pallets you lay out to stack. I used 5, thus making it a 5 banger. Brother Beechnut started that thar jargon.
