We didn't get off until today because of Monday's morning storms. 67 miles today and that put us camping near Fort Ancient, Ohio. We should make it north of Columbus tomorrow if the rain isn't too bad. Crossing the Ohio River via the Purple People Bridge between Newport, Ky and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Do you keep a blog daily or so of your adventure ? I've read a few hiking ones that have been at least a little bit interesting, with/without talented writing and story-telling skills.
Second day out and the predicted rain didn't come, as yet. 25 mph head winds and quite cool. My wife fighting the headwinds on the Prairie Grass Trail near Cedarville, OH. The some of the wild things along the trail.
Time for a recumbent Ralphie? I hate those winds. But make the most of it. Have you stopped at Walt's place yet?
We are having a wonderful time at Walt's! He and his wife are fantistic hosts. They make us feel like we've known them for years! Like the little kids say: "Best day ever!" Complete with homemade cherry pie.
Well if the Cherry pie is half as good as his Apple pie, then yup great way to cap off "best day ever"!
Wow, I just looked at your route. You're gonna ride right past my firewood pile at my buddy's property here in the next day or so. It's on Pierce Rd in Garrettsville, OH. You're gonna be really close to my house as well. I'm gonna be working tomorrow (Friday), but I'll PM you my number if I can help with anything or shoot the breeze. I ride mountain bikes and my dad is an ace bike mechanic if you need any adjustments.
We really enjoyed having Mr. and Mrs. Ralphie Boy as our guests last night. Great couple with good campfire conversation.
We stayed with Walt and Robin last night and I've searched for words all day and can't come up with the right ones to convey our thanks and appreciation for all the did for us. Walt is a man with many great adventures under his belt so he understands and appreciates our special kind of crazy. If this world had more folks like Walt and Robin it would be a much happier place and everybody would have pie! My deepest and most heartfelt thanks to Walt and Robin!
About 87 miles today and one stubborn flat to repair. We didn't settle in until 9:20 tonight. Good night my friends, I'm beat!
