Now, in my defense, I've wanted one of these rare twin cylinder saws since I was young. I was always intrigued by the story of it, and it's elusiveness. This one is complete (minis the original carb), has good spark and compression, and runs......the Tillotson HL carb has been adapted to fit, I will build a proper airbox and throttle/choke linkages.

I still plan on building the OTHER beep that I have, but this one will be much easier to get up and going......

This will hit the bench as soon as it arrives at my door, stay tuned......

Once this is done? Maybe a Mac 125.....or an 090......or a casket, if my wife catches on!! :emb::whistle:

the crazy thing is, I initially was typing in a much higher bid but the missing carb which is unique to that model made me back off, I hope it ends up being a runner without too much work, the auction pics make it look very nice and you got it for about half of the buy it now on several beat up broke down parts saws that have been on the bay recently

I'll check in also. I was bidding up to around $450. Thought I had it until that last 30 seconds or so. Glad it found a good home. It was a fun auction to watch.

I have 2 BP runners and another carcass saw. It's a fun saw to cut with but the sprockets are only for .404 chain. Doesn't fit with an under 50 cc saw very well.

Get some thick gloves, the muffler blows right on your hand. Tom

I'm going to try and get a rim machined for it that will accept 3/8" chain. As for the muffler, I have plans for that too....lol

I have another one of these saws that is on its way to being restored but it needs much more work. I'll make this saw run without the original carb, I'll make an air box that will work with it. As far as I'm concerned, until someone out there makes a carb kit for the original carburetors on these saws (there is a guy working on one), the original carbs are near worthless.

Dumb question, what's the obsession with Mac saws? There seem to be some rabid collectors

Pretty cool. What are the odds that you would end up with another BP-1. Kick butt saws.

The BP1 has a cool story with it. They aren't supposed to even exist. Built for little over half a year back in 1962, the saws were a totally new concept and way ahead of their time. They were a twin cylinder saw, the second cylinder basically acted as a supercharger and the saw was capable of 12,000 rpm. Governor failures resulted in the saw being at risk of exploding in the users hands and injuring the operator, so the saws were recalled and destroyed. Only a small handful made it through the cracks......
