I had been a bit of a wood getter for a bit. Loved having it for fires, knowing I split it myself, folks were gonna enjoy a good crackle and pop of beer cans on a fall evening. Not much better than that in my eyes. Burned much more wood than I can fathom in many places. Some specific zen to it. I had got some wood at a friends for free and tried splitting it but ran into some problems and before I knew it, the wood has STILL sat in rounds in probably the worst place. Rain has dripped soaked, Im tempted to get it split this summer and put it as done on my list. After I seeked out other wood freebies, a google search came up with this funnyazz site. People were collecting all this stuff called wood and declared themselves sane. I just pulled up a chair to the dinner table and said "hi" and told you guys "Im gonna lose my yard in a year".
We have had a few jackwagons here but they go away , it seems they just don't like hangin out with good folks

Like others I found the site by googling a tree id. I spend more time on here than the mopar sites I post on...and the people here are friendlier. I have always had odd interests and it's nice to be able to share those interests with others who "get it". I like identifying trees, storing firewood, learning about their individual characteristics, etc. Scrounging in the winter has given me something interesting to do rather than just work on cars in my spare time. I like going out and finding a new tree that fell over and getting the feeling I just found some sort of treasure.
I sure do appreciate your highly thoughtful appreciations for the little things. Makes us all feel like we're in the right place with likemindedness of hobbies and fun.
Well, I've got another reason to fhc. Yesterday was my bday. Not one call or text from anyone other than mom. 1 friend came camping with me. You all however, jeebus! I dunno how many people took the time to say something, but I thank you all. This place and you people are awesome.
I was directed to FHC while looking for info on square filing chain. It was Mike Lee's thread linked to me by DW. After that, I had a look around and realized I fit right in. Heck I already had a stash of pics of tree's fell and rounds split, now I had a place to share! Then I realized there were zero ego's here, which IMO makes it so great. Nobody tells you you're wrong, they just voice an opinion or their experience.
