A friend dropped off both of these items this morning as either would start, mower is a JD L100 I pulled the line off the carb, cranked it over and fuel came out, and it started right up. Trimmer will kinda run with the choke on but not in the run mode, doesn't seem like it's drawing any fuel?
It's highly likely that the fuel lines on the trimmer are suspect. They harden, crack and otherwise age poorly relatively quick. A few bucks worth of Tugon tuning in the proper size and you're usually off to the races again. Those L100s are ok mowers. No frills, at all. But they still build that basic design and your L100 is likely 11-12 years old already.
My nearly new Ryobi gas trimmer needs to be run with the choke on. It's lines are good, not hardened at all. It's got a walbro carb on it. I'll get around to getting it set better once I get a few key projects done here.
