I have a weakness for things like that. Get it running like a top and go mow your yard .... Cheaper than dinner out and it's not flushed the next morning. Although things you flush don't require pallet racking.
Just picked it up along with an old lawn boy mower. It is really cool hopefully I can get it running.
Lol yeah I know. Wonder if PA Dutch will work too. The recoil spring broke on me and I need to find a replacement but it has spark so I think it will run.
Did it break on the end ? If so you can aneal just the end shape it and re harden it. Much leading to safety Sally's nervous condition but I have been known to "prop start" a few vintage mowers before.
I have tried making a new end but it only lasts for a couple pulls then snaps about an inch back from it again. I might try and put a pulley on it to wrap a rope around for now.
Well first I try gentle heat till red then bend and quench in water. Now it is brittle. You must draw a temper. Scrub off scale till shiney then hold over a chunk of metal that's been heated red hot until it turns blue then let cool naturally. The blue is a oxidation that will not always correctly appear in the gasses of a flame. Pry and flex it a bit, if it breaks quench in oil instead of water but draw the same. If that breaks I've already been measuring to find a suitable substitute. What is your method ?
The mow master is awesome !!! Well omc made Lawn boy's close to me haha. Everyone had one, I pushed one of them around the yard oh yeah.
I was heating till red hot bending then quenching in oil. I'll have to try the hot metal first. I've been looking for a replacement but can't find a site where I can look up by dimensions and end type. The mow master was made by propulsion engine corporation from what I've read. They also made outboard boat motors I believe. It's definitely unique. We used to have a lawn boy too it was a good mower.
I remember as a kid looking through old magazine's and the lawn mower's were the most interesting items and the cars.
