:picard:Get your mind out of the gutter! I am a fat, ugly, furry middle age guy...nobody wants to see that, just ask my wife and she will tell you! We bought our house from my wife's paternal grand parents estate. In the basement has lurked this old dresser. Last weekend I brought it out to the garage and started to work on it. The thing was used to hold junk and used as a light duty work table from the looks of it. The damp floor rotted the legs out and old newspaper was stuck to the top from the moisture. I wasn't smart enough to get a before pic, but here is what I ended up with for my "new" old dresser.

What did you use to strip and refinish?

    Very nice!

I have a similar project sitting in my basement under about 6 layers of paint. I haven't got around to it yet but hopefully it turns out half as nice as yours did.

Looks really nice. I'll bet that took a lot of patience to get it to the point of finishing!

I used citristrip and this thing was grungy, first round was like sticky mud. Second round was enough to get most all of it off. Gave it a light sand on the top because it was so dinged up. Used an English Walnut color stain. Let it set for 48 hrs to dry good. Then put couple coats of satin polycrylic. The new "legs" are actually a chop job on a set of stair railing spindles I got at menards.

The drawer pulls were also bought at menards but the center brass medallion on each drawer is original hardware.

I have a coworker who is a amateur antiquer and said the dovetailed drawers look like about a 1920's model.
