A 2-year-old Maryland boy was killed when a tree his father was cutting down fell on him and his older brother, authorities said.

The older boy, 5, was seriously injured in Thursday's tragic accident. The boys were flown to a hospital where the younger boy died.

Ugh, such a needless loss! I can't even chop wood when my little girl is around without watching her like a hawk. I'd never be dropping trees with little kids present.

I could never live with myself if something like that ever happened.

The loss of a child is an awful thing to go thru. I wouldn't wish it on anybody. Whatever the circumstances.

I have an 18 month old, a 3 year old, and a 6 year old...all boys, and all of them would want to be out there watching me fell a tree just like those little fellows. My prayers go out to the dad...I sure know I would be needing it.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that a preliminary investigation shows the father of the siblings was cutting down a tree in his backyard Thursday and the tree suddenly turned toward the children, who were watching from about 50 feet away.

This poor family; it breaks my heart.

This week, in the U.P. a man lost his life while felling. The announcer said a branch broke off and landed on him. Happened where Backwoods Savage used to live...kinda.

    Be careful, always look up.
