Hung up shattered maple even less. Hung up on three trees. Snap, crackle, pop We'll see if the wind shakes it out tomorrow. I'm not pinching/bending a bar in it. Not liking being surrounded by briars and not having much of an escape route either. There's a couple other maples on the ground here and this one is hovering over the only good path to it all.
I noticed an ash on my property had fallen like that back in November and got hung up like that. It took until last weekend to finally make it to the ground. There was no way I was going to tackle it otherwise!
If you can, put some smaller logs/branches under where you think it will fall. When it does fall, at least it'll be a bit up off the ground. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
Figures, didn't budge. One of the blow downs I really want: Hah, the tree it is hung up on is, itself, hung up on another tree. A deer came thru this spot today
Hanging in mid air!!! Hickory is tough stuff. Couldn't believe it. It started fall and just stopped when the wedge cut closed up. My son and I stood in amazement for a while and then took the pic. Had to bravely cut the hinge. Chief
pole winched it down. Now to start slicing. Hauling out is getting sketchy as the water level is coming up.
billb3 if the ground holds out probably a good time to drop the other half, cat face like that may heal years from now after the trunk rots...just extra firewood
One mercy slaying coming up. The last one it was leaning on had been leaned on and bent over some time in the past. It should go too.
Well found an hour and a half to continue the saga of the swamp maple extraction. Pulling it down ended up wedged between 6 trees. Except for two I need to cut down the rest are on the ground. I like on the ground, especially maple.
