I wanted this done before we get nailed with snow so I started on it about 9, this will be some of our shoulder season wood along with the Pine in the pile for 2018.

With this trail opened back up again, we'll have five different trails through the woods to our stacks.

This came down in our last wind event, the first three rounds had some rot but the rest was good.

I really like having some pine in the stacks. Pine is great for quick heat and I mix it with oak to get a fast start and long burn.

My sister had a couple of pines to go down. Brother in law bucked it for me; so nice. Sister brought half of it to me but I have yet to split it. I look at it and says, you need to get that split, but then I get busy and don't. I also need to get the rest of it home as well.

Nice work! I love pine - definitely has its place. I have about 3.5 cord stacked - mostly stacked for 2 years. It's all I burn in my shop and a lot its the first wood I burn in the house in the fall and last wood in the spring. Another nice thing is that almost no one around here wants it for stoves - so there is usually an abundance to take. I used to tell people to burn it, but......now I just take it instead - most didn't want to heed the advice anyway! Cheers!

I hope the pine myths continue.. I've taken free delivery of enough to equal probably five cord of the stuff over the last couple weeks. Owb doesn't care what it's burning, and neither does my nice warm family!

While you split that pine, keep your eye out for any fatwood in there. It is well worth splitting it out and setting it aside for lighting duty. Nature's own Super Cedar.

We use basswood for kindling when we use it, we had someone buy us some fatwood for a Christmas present one year, I didn't like it.

Is there anything other than pine?

JK of course, but more than half of my stacks is pine. I gather the "better" woods (tamarack, douglas fir) as I can get it, but pine is my mainstay. It burns great, lights easy, and warms the house quickly.

As I say, "pine is fine!"

It wasn't bad this time, my back must be in better shape after limbing those pine we dropped making the new tree line.

I might start on that job next week, it would be nice to drop another three or four so we get even more sun.

My dad loves it. He don't give a rip of its green or 2 years old. He's burning it. Wide open also. Not me!
